I was first told about this fig from David Eden. He's a local fig collector that has his roots in Syria and collects Syrian figs.
Mine was a gift from David. It was a tiny little cutting about 2yrs ago. This is the plant now and it only gave me one fig this year.
By all accts it looks like a pretty standard green fig, but it's only after you cut into it that it begins to show it's true colors.
The pulp is colored like a red day lily. Maroon neat the eye, red center, and yellow near the top.
That red zone is where the sugary sweetness is. This fig is amazingly sweet and very rich. Even with the recent rains it was still super sweet. If you like syrupy sweet figs this maybe your best bet. It ripens before Peters Honey and has a single crop.
I'll keep this in my collection.
