These figs can get quite large  when picked from an established in ground tree. It's a pretty reliable producer here in the PNW. It is a single crop fig with fig ripening towards the end of September into October. 

In terms of taste this would not fall in to my top 10 but it would fall into my top 10 for the PNW weather. It's a light colored interior and gently sweet with honey tones. 

Preto Main Crop (9/29/17) 3yr old plant

Sweetness: 8.5

Size:  5 (41.1 grams)

Productivity:  5

Total = 27.5

Preto is a delicious fig. It ripens at the end of September and beginning of October. Which is in line with Ronde De Bordeaux MVSB and many other figs. Which is interesting because from others account it was always listed as a late fig. 

This fig is great it ranks close to the taste of the Black Madeira. It's taste is like rich strawberry jam and perfectly sweet. Quite reliable and heavy producer!

Brown Turkey Main Crop (9/29/17) 15yr old plant

Taste:  6

Sweetness: 5 

Size:  6 (52  grams)

Productivity:  3

Total = 18

It's funny throughout the years I haven't really done any reviews on this fig. Most folks either hate it or love it. I think it's a very average fig but quite large! If you want something to fill your stomachs the Brown Turkey will do just that. Just do not expect to be blown away by it's flavor.

Marseilles VS Black Main Crop (9/29/17) 3yr old plant

Taste:  7.5

Sweetness: 7.5 

Size: 2 (18.6 grams)

Productivity:  1

Total = 18

MVSB is a great fig. Another strawberry and jammy fig but ranks quite high in my book if you had to pick a "Black, strawberry, Jammy fig".  Top 15 for sure.

This was inedible. -3 I couldn't even keep it down.

I could not judge the Viollette De Sollies because it was a rotten fruit.

Brown Turkey??? Update 09-24-15

So what I thought was brown turkey, I'm not so sure anymore.  I bought these as cuttings last year from ebay. They are 2 yr old plants after this season. Weird but I've been looking forward to tasting brown turkeys to see why everyone hates them so much. But as it is, they are not looking like they they are brown turkeys and could be some green/yellow fig instead.

Here's how they look on 9/14/15.  Kinda reminds me of an LSU Gold.

Update 09-24-15

So today I picked off one of the ripe fruits from the tree that I believe is a white Kadota. It weighed in at 35.5 grams. It definitely was ripe when I picked it. There was no latex on the stem. I hate to believe that there are bad figs out there but this has got to be the worse tasting fig I've ever eaten. It''s insipid. Bland, tasteless, crunchless, and has a mouthfeel of eating cold soggy noodles. I am not a fan.

I hate to get rid of fig trees but this one has to go.

Olympian & Brown Turkey fig Update

I buried my Olympian fig purchased from a Federal Way Nursery directly into one of my raised beds. I don't think it will be a permanent location. Just looking to give it a extra boost of growth.

When I bought the plant on 6/1/15 it had no fruits whatsoever. I pinched the top about a month ago and then this happened. Blame! it was like a burst of fruit growth.

My 2nd year brown turkey that I purchased as cuttings has been pushing out some serious fruit growth as well. I remember buying 25 cuttings. I think I ended up with 5 successful cuttings. At the time I was just using the baggy method with paper towels. They took forever root and most rotted away. My success rate was way lower back then.

 I gave 2 to my mother in law and 1 to my sister. So I still have these 2 plants in 5 gallon pots. The Plants are relatively productive and I can't wait to taste my first fruit from them.
