Ok so the previous review on the Main Crop Vincenzo, should be null and void. This properly ripened Vincenzo Main crop fig is Incredible!!!!

Seriously, if you told me I had to choose just 5 figs to grow here in the PNW. I would not hesitate to name this one as one of them.

This was a great birthday present. I had 4 figs to taste from. Vincenzo main, Salem Dark, Longue D'aout, and Vern's Brown Turkey.

The Vincenzo fig is the winner for the day.

I'm so happy to give a second review on the Vincenzo Main Crop fig. The previous review was on a fig that was not ripened.

Check out the nector spilling from the eye of this fig.

40.3 Grams

This fig has it's place in my top 5 figs this yr. The brebas are amazing and the main crop is even better.

Vincenzo Breba

It's hard to describe it's flavor. Like sweet juicy jam creme brulee. It's hard to find a fig that has an amazing breba and an even more amazing main crop. If this fig was more productive it would make it even more desirable.

However my theory is that since it only produces 1 fig per branch, it allows the fig to concentrate all of it's energy into producing a top quality fig. Just a thought.

I don't like giving out 9s usually but this fig comes damn near close to a 10!

DISREGARD This REVIEW. I picked this one too early. Click here to see a review on a really good MAIN CROP VINCENZO

As much as I love the Vincenzo Breba. The main crop is just does not impress me as much. Click the links above to compare the previous year's brebas. It's like two very different figs.

I was bit surprised to see a ripe main crop on this tree. In previous years I've only gotten brebas.

Figs are such interesting fruit. If I had to compare them to an animal it would be a feline and not a dog. They are so unpredictable and with so many varieties it's hard to predict how the will act and grow. One year I get nothing and the next it's loaded. It's like they have a mind of their own and do not care what you want.

As much as I love the brebas on this fig the main crop is a bit disappointing in comparison. It's 1/5th of the size at only 16grams and lacks the flavor and texture of the breba. This is interesting because most folks have this misconception that main crops "always" taste better than brebas.

Well in this case it's not true!

The main crop was below average for me. Average is about a 7 in book. It's too subtle in flavor and sweetness to write home about. Add to it that it's just not very productive makes the Main crop Vincenzo fig an after thought and not the main course.

Only 16.3 grams for the main crop and 50 grams for the breba.

Taste review of the Vincenzo Fig Breba 7-19-18

Taste review of the Vincenzo Fig Breba 7-19-18

2017 Breba

Man oh man is this fig impressive! I had 4 different varieties of ripe brebas to feast from on 7/19 and after eating the Brunswick and the Desert King, the flavor explosion from the Vincenzo fig is out of this world.

Now to a new fig eater, they may all taste similar but I've developed a sommelier's pallet for figs over the years. To me the Vincenzo Breba just ranks so incredibly high in terms of taste and flavor.

Not to be confused by San Vincenzo fig, this one is named after someone's grandson. I believe it's synonyms are palermo and aldo figs.

The taste is one thing I love of the Vincenzo but the color and shape is also a work of art. A rich burgundy color that completely coats the exterior of the skin. It's also an apatite for the eye.

Weighs in at a respectable 50 Grams

I believe if I waited 1 more day, this fig would've been at the perfect ripeness! That's why it impresses me even more to know that it still tastes amazing even when not fully ripened.

Oh Hello Vincenzo

This season has been great for the figs. Lots of trees that haven't produced are back on production.
This is the Vincenzo breba looking oh so handsome.

Review of the Vincenzo Fig Breba 2017

I got this Vincenzo Fig from a cutting last year. In February 2016. I've read great reports about it. based on the photos I've seen online. The fruit kinda reminds me of the Sals Corleone or Aldo Palermo fig.

Well I'm glad this year this little tree put out a great little breba for me. I did not ripen this one in the greenhouse. It was winter protected, which I do for all of my 1st yr trees, but brought outside once the temperatures begin to get about freezing in the spring.

Anyhow, I was impressed that this fig ripened even before my in ground DK brebas. What was even more impressive was the taste. It was very good. Melon tones, hints of honey, and dripping with nectar. My 1yr old son loved it and wouldn't share. You probably wouldn't either after you taste how good this is.

This might be a good candidate to grow in ground here considering how well it's done with minimal protection and how great tasting the breba was!
